In the history of China's clothing development, the emergence of buttons is very early. In the Tang Dynasty, button loops were widely used on round neck robes. Generally, three pairs were used, which was the origin of the use of breasted buttons in later clothes. After the Tang Dynasty, the shape of buttons more, the Ming Dynasty women mainly use metal buttons, after the Qing Dynasty buttons become the most important knot on clothes.
Archaeologists recently discovered the earliest button found in China in Lintao County. After textual research, this button belongs to the Qijia culture type. It has a history of more than 4600 years. The button has a diameter of 2.5cm, a thickness of 1cm in the middle, and a relatively thin edge., There are two small holes similar to buttonholes. The whole button is muddy orange yellow pottery, the color is yellow, the pottery surface is rough. This pottery button unearthed in Lintao is the only one in the country. The discovery of this button confirms that the ancestors began to sew clothes to hide from the cold more than 4000 years ago. It is of great value for the study of the lives of our ancestors.
